Born in Wallsend, Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1960 and now living in Whitley Bay on
The North East coast.
Worked in design and illustration for over 20 years in the North East and London
though now painting full time.
I worked on building sites for 3 years after leaving school at 16 and did art evening
Classes where I was encouraged to study art full time. I studied at Newcastle College
of Art and North Tyneside College in the 80s where I was taught to draw and paint by
Maurice Mcpartlan, then later by painter Jeffrey Johnson. I completed an Art
foundation course then an HND in graphic design. I also played regularly in local
punk bands through these years and a keen interest in diverse music continues to
present day.
My current paintings draw inspiration somewhere between Reggie Perrin and John
Steed, English eccentricity and being slightly at odds with the 21st Century.
