Alex Hinge FRSA (b 1970) is a contemporary artist based in Lancashire.
Having sketched from an early age, Alex studied Art and Design at Darlington College of Art and went on to study Advertising at Newcastle College. His career took him to London for 25 years, working in a number of leading ad agencies.
Returning north, Alex developed oil painting techniques from his home studio, where he continues to take inspiration from the diverse landscapes and dramatic skies around him.
Alex often works from preliminary sketches and translates the image to canvas using photographs and memory. His style is often abstract and he works deftly with palette knife and brush to create striking, unique works of art. Being only an hour from the coast, Alex has painted powerful land and seascapes in oil which have been exhibited in The Country House Gallery, Burnley. He has also worked on a number of commissions for private clients all over the UK.
